  • 👈 Definition of disease:

In patients who have severe hyperopia or myopia or whose cornea is not thick enough for laser correction, the refractive error can be corrected without removing the natural lens of the eye by implanting a special intraocular lens in the eye. With this procedure, since the natural lens of the eye remains intact, the accommodative power of the eye is maintained and people who have not reached the age of presbyopia will have good near vision in addition to good distance vision. In this procedure, a delicate lens is implanted in front of the natural lens of the eye by making a very small incision in the cornea to correct myopia or hyperopia.

👈 Surgical method:

Preoperative instructions are similar to all intraocular surgeries.
The procedure can be performed under local or general anesthesia.
Depending on the surgeon's approach, if desired, the patient should undergo a peripheral iridectomy with a laser (ND YAG) 2 weeks before the procedure, creating two completely open holes in the iris.
During the procedure, the patient's information chart and the eye to be operated on will be reviewed.

👈 Postoperative care:

The patient should be examined 2 hours after the operation. In this examination, the condition of the cornea, the anterior chamber, the position of the lens and its distance from the lens, which should be about 300 to 400 microns, should be checked. The patency of the iridectomy and the intraocular pressure should be checked.
Necessary medications after the operation include the use of steroid drops, which are 1 drop every 4 hours in the first week and reduced and discontinued within a month.
The use of antibiotic drops such as ciprofloxacin for a week.
Control of intraocular pressure and anterior chamber depth in the first days after the operation.
