Avastin injection

Definition of disease:

Avastin is one of the drugs that has been used in the form of intraocular injections in recent years. This drug is injected into the eye to help reduce vision loss in this patient. It is used in the treatment of many eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, the formation of inappropriate blood vessels in the choroid and many other retinal diseases. Many of the diseases mentioned are chronic and long-term, which is why their treatment period is also long and during this period, intraocular injections must be repeated periodically, and patients should not worry about this.

For the Avastin injection, the patient is taken to the operating room and the ophthalmologist will perform the relevant operation without anesthesia and only with anesthesia. As a result, it will be a quick and outpatient procedure, which is expected to return to daily activities in a short time and not undergo a long recovery period. This injection is performed with a very thin and delicate needle tip and, depending on the doctor's diagnosis, can be done in one step for both eyes of the patient or with a gap of several days between the injections of the two eyes for the other eye. After the operation, the eye will be bandaged.

✅ Get enough rest and sleep
✅ Avoid using your mobile phone or reading as much as possible during the first two days so that your eyes can rest and not be under pressure.
✅ After Avastin injection, you should not use any eye cosmetics for a while.
✅ All medical history of the person, especially blood pressure and stroke, and the medications that the person is using or any allergies, should be discussed with the doctor and, according to his opinion, continue taking the medication after the injection.
✅ After Avastin injection, the dressing should preferably remain on the eye for about a few hours.
✅ Avoid driving.
✅ Avoid any rubbing or scratching of the eyes.
✅ Avoid going to the pool or sea, and even splashing water on your face for two days or as directed by the doctor.
✅ Be sure to visit the doctor again at the specified time for subsequent examinations.
